An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to police.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, authorities confirmed.

The arrests come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, two women had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was one of the those hurt in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Officers arrested a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault near the scene. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Authorities were alerted at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals hurt by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
