Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev claimed his maiden title for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, winning just one win at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first title after the Rome competition and first on a hard surface since that period of the previous year.

Victory also means he has won 21 victories at 21 distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my children simultaneously, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, including in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had led commentators to doubt if his ability to perform at the top level was concluded.

But the player has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and perform positively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

He fought back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Moutet, securing 4 of the final five games to take the lead.

Both players traded break points in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his initial ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

Moutet saved four early chances in a competitive final set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the title with a point at the net, with the Frenchman failing to control a volley after a lengthy match.
